288. Taiwan Issue and South China Sea Dispute
19 April 2016
In my opinion, the Taiwan Issue and the South China Sea Dispute are the same problem, and both relate to Chinese territory.
It seems that the Taiwan Issue can be solved only through the use of force, because the Taiwan Issue has been being increasingly complicated in recent years.
This is reflected by the common aspiration of Taiwan people.
That Taiwan becomes independent someday is what Taiwan people want. Those who are under the illusion that Taiwan will actively come over to China Mainland are deceiving themselves as well as others.
Those viewpoints that insist the Taiwan Issue cannot be solved through the use of force, but the South China Sea Dispute can are illogical.
From the aspects of firepower coverage and force projection, it is much easier to solve the Taiwan Issue than solve the South China Sea Dispute through the use of force. If we cannot beat Taiwan, we cannot win in the South China Sea Dispute definitely.
If the Taiwan Issue can be solved through the use of force, the South China Sea Dispute can be solved inevitably. Those countries against China on the South China Sea Dispute will button their lip.
Taiwan is internationally recognized as a part of the People’s Republic of China, while the South China Sea belongs to China under dispute.
If we cannot recover the internationally recognized territory, but want to recover the territory under dispute, those countries against China on the South China Sea Dispute will be unwilling to submit.
According to the art of war, befriending a distant state while attacking a neighbor is common sense.
We can build up some islands around the South China Sea, and suspend the dispute. The issue and the dispute can be solved only by attacking Taiwan.
